In our last episode (my previous blog) we gave general thanks to all the professionals who have been working so hard, in so many ways, on our behalf to help Attesa complete the entitlement process.  Even though we weren’t there yet.

On Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at the last Board of Supervisors meeting of the year, we received unanimous approval toward changing the zoning of our land, from agricultural to multi-use, toward allowing Attesa to move forward.

Everyone’s efforts have paid off.  And what a great early Christmas present.

If you want to know who the above-and-beyond-the-call-of-duty companies are, those that helped us reach this milestone, click here to download our media kit

Officially, the present we unwrapped was case PZ-007-17, “requesting a development agreement and rezone from General Rural (GR) to Multi-Purpose Community Master Plan (MP-CMP) Zoning District on 2496.7 +/- acres …. Located north of the Tohono O’odham Nation to Hanna Rd. and from Montgomery Rd. (align) to Bianco Rd. in far southwestern Casa Grande.”

To put this in perspective, in December 2017, almost a year ago to the day, the Pinal County Planning Commission voted 8-0 to recommend approval on our request.  It’s taken that long for everyone behind the scenes to do what they had to do so we could get before the Board of Supervisors for this all-important vote.

We’re not complaining.  It’s all part of the process.  And while we can’t possibly name all the key people who work for the County, in so many different departments, each with their own set of rules, guidelines and challenges, we thank them for their diligence and first-class work products.  The same goes for those who work for the City of Casa Grande, the State of Arizona, the Arizona Economic Authority, etc., etc., etc.

Now the real work begins.

Clearing this entitlement hurdle is much like becoming a race sponsor.  When you write the check to make the event your own, you are really paying for the right to spend a great deal more money to ensure its success.

Our investments in time and capital over the past four years were significant but necessary to creating a world-class, one-of-a-kind, international motorsports entertainment destination.  That’s always been our goal and we’re ready to push onward, with all the joy and enthusiasm of a kid on Christmas morning who got exactly what he wanted from Santa, now that we’re legal.

So, to everyone who’s been following our journey, especially those who have shared their support, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and spectacular New Year!
